শুক্রাণু না থাকার ,নির্দিষ্ট কিছু কারণ রয়েছে , কিছু ক্ষেত্রে শুক্রাণু শরীরের মধ্যে তৈরি হয়, অথচ বাইরে বেরোয় না, আবার কিছু ক্ষেত্রে শুক্রাণু তৈরির হরমোনটা শরীরের মধ্যে কম থাকে যা ট্রিটমেন্টের মাধ্যমে সারানো সম্ভব আবার কিছু ক্ষেত্রে শরীরে শুক্রানুর তৈরি হওয়াটাই বন্ধ হয়ে যায় কারণ শুক্রাণু তৈরির জন্য যে কোষ গুলোর প্রয়োজন সেগুলোই মারা যায় ,
সঠিক সময়ে সঠিক ট্রিটমেন্ট শুরু করলে আমরা পেশেন্টের নিজের শুক্রানু থেকেই প্রেগনেন্সি তৈরি করা সম্ভব কিন্তু যদি দেখা যায় যে একান্ত শুক্রাণু শরীরের মধ্যে তৈরি না হয় সেক্ষেত্রে শুক্রানুর ডোনেশনে সাহায্য প্রেগনেন্সি নেওয়া সম্ভব।
